Hey everyone!
Amber is awake and she is improving. They are keeping her on oxygen to help with her breathing. She had some cracked ribs so this helps expand her lungs fully. This is normal procedure and they are watching her breathing closely.
She is still somewhat disoriented and confused when she is awake but has moments of clarity, so that's also a good sign. It takes a while to recover from head trauma.
They are scheduled to do surgery on her leg tomorrow and they will get it set with a rod. It should heal very well.
Her back seems to be doing well with the repairs made there. They placed some (4) pins and a rod to stabilize it and the surgery was a success. She has movement and she IS NOT paralyzed.
She is going to rest today with no stimulation, and they are keeping things quiet in her room. We will let everyone know as soon as she can have visitors, but for now, please do not go to see her. They wont let you in.
Cards and notes are great and may still be left at the school or given to family directly. Please keep these as words of encouragement and healing for Amber only, and do not send sympathy cards and talk about her loss. This is just too much for her at this time. She is aware of what happened, but needs to be able to focus on herself right now and not be overcome with grief. The family really appreciates all the support and consideration in this area. When the time comes, you will all have the opportunity to lift her up and support her through this loss. She is going to need you. She knows she is loved and that you are all pulling for her. Keep praying.
